High Protein Diet Reduce the Risk of Stroke 20%

Chinese scientists found a high protein diet may protect against stroke, especially if a lot of eating fish.

Dr. Liu Xinfeng, from Nanjing University School of Medicine, said eating one chicken breast or salmon fillet every day - about 20 grams - reducing the risk to 20 percent.

If you eat more than that, can reduce the risk of stroke by 26 percent. "The protein lowers blood pressure," he said. "Fish also contains omega-3 fatty acids, and some other nutrients, including proteins that protect us from a stroke."

The findings were published in the journal Neurology, also mentions the consumption of red meat makes a person at high risk of stroke.

"An estimated 1.4 million deaths from strokes could be prevented each year if each person consumes 20 grams of chicken breast or salmon fillet on a daily basis," said Dr. Liu.
